VINTON — The Benton County Compensation Board gave its salary recommendations for elected officials during a Jan. 28 meeting of the Benton County Board of Supervisors.
The board recommenced a dollar amount for increases, as opposed to a percentage and discussed basing increases on a merit system, as well as how deputies in the respective offices are paid.
Deputies in each office are paid 85% of their elected official’s salary. The compensation board also looked how officials are paid in comparison to other counties.
The recommendation called for no increase for the supervisors (at the supervisors’ request) $3,000 for the auditor, $2,800 for the treasurer and recorder, $4,000 for the sheriff and $6,000 for the county attorney.
