As many have experienced during the past year, Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo has been using a temporary entrance and temporary parking for our Emergency Department located on Western Avenue.
This will change Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The new Emergency Department will be accessed from any direction coming from Main Street to Lafayette Avenue. Hospital signage is established at Main Street and Lafayette Avenue and will direct drivers north on Lafayette to the hospital campus.
A way-finding sign will be clearly positioned directing patients and visitors.
Those seeking care in the Emergency Department will turn left at the intersection of Lafayette and West May Street. The entrance is clearly marked EMERGENCY at the top of the building and parking is readily available.
When a visit to the hospital is complete, patients and visitors may exit onto Western Avenue or return to Main Street via Lafayette. Access to Western Avenue is an exit only. EXIT ONLY DO NOT ENTER will be clearly marked for traffic coming from Western Avenue seeking to access the campus.
We feel that this will best manage traffic flow for Emergency Department drop-off, pickup and parking.
It is important to be aware that ambulances will be exiting the ambulance garage into this area and exiting onto Western Avenue.
