MARENGO — A State of Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals survey team found no deficiencies and awarded high marks to Compass Memorial Healthcare and team members during the recertification survey conducted Jan. 14-15.
Compass Memorial Healthcare is surveyed every three to five years by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, Health Facilities Division in accordance with the guidelines administered by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services, the hospital said in a press release.
“Surveyors arrive unannounced, bringing a team of experts to complete a comprehensive examination of our facility,” stated Natasha Hauschilt, Director of Ancillary Services and Organizational Performance at Compass Memorial.
“This includes an assessment of patient care, safety, confidentiality, patient rights, operations and outcomes. The surveyors ensure compliance through observations, interviews, record reviews, and an in-depth analysis of the facilities policies and procedures,” Hauschilt said.
“A deficiency-free survey indicates that we are meeting all regulatory guidelines designed to ensure care is delivered in a high-quality, safe environment. It represents operational integrity; a value we uphold daily through our unwavering commitment to the patients and community we serve,” Hauschilt said.
Surveyors also noted their genuine appreciation for the atmosphere created by the team members at CMH, highlighting the welcoming environment noting how well our staff interact with patients, families and visitors ensuring everyone is warmly greeted and guided appropriately, the press release said.
Processes prioritizing efficiency in meeting patients’ needs while ensuring the delivery of high-quality care were emphasized throughout the survey.
“Zero deficiencies is an incredible accomplishment and is a claim that few can make. Health care is a heavily regulation laden environment,” said Barry Goettsch, chief executive officer of Compass Memorial Healthcare.
“Being perfect in this environment is difficult to say the least. However, the team at Compass Memorial Healthcare is focused on what matters most, and that is exceptional care for our patients and communities. It is this focus on the details and aspects of exceptional health care that yields outcomes such as this. Not because we may be surveyed, but because they are professionals who realize that at the end of their attention to detail and doing health care right, is a patient,” said Goettsch.
“I am unable to find the words that can express my pride in my fellow team members for both this accomplishment and the commitment they put in every day.”
