It’s a new year, but my commitment to delivering for Iowans remains the same.
We are already hitting the ground running to secure the border, protect girls’ sports and cut taxpayer dollars. I will continue to bring Iowans’ perspectives to D.C. and fight to make Washington run more like the great state of Iowa.
My family joined me when I was sworn in for the 119th Congress … I ran for Congress because I’m a mom — Max and Jax are my entire world.
I’m a mom fighting for other moms who want to create the best possible future for their children. I’m fighting for the working Iowa families who have spent the past four years struggling under Joe Biden, for the veterans who have served our country, for the small business owners trying to keep their doors open and for the farmers who work so hard to feed and fuel the world.
I'm fighting to Make America Great Again for you and your family. Representing Iowa's Second District is the greatest honor of my lifetime, and I am humbled Iowans have entrusted me to once again be their voice in Congress.
I look forward to the next two years of delivering on Iowans' priorities and making common sense a common virtue again.
Protecting Iowa families
Immediately after being sworn in, House Republicans reelected Speaker Mike Johnson and voted to bring 12 priority bills to the floor in the coming weeks to advance President Trump's America First agenda.
One of these bills was the Laken Riley Act. Laken Riley — a young woman with her whole life ahead of her — was murdered by an illegal immigrant President Biden let into our country through his open border policies.
This legislation ensures that illegal immigrants who commit crimes are detained. And under President Trump, I know criminal illegal aliens will be deported.
I proudly cosponsored and voted for this legislation to ensure no other family endures what Laken's family has gone through. It’s time to secure our border, deport criminal aliens, and make America safe again. That starts now with the passage of the Laken Riley Act.
When I was a reporter with KCRG, I covered the 2008 Flood in Cedar Rapids and spoke to Iowans who had no idea if their homes or family businesses were intact. Since coming to Congress, I have prioritized flood mitigation and prevention so that we can improve our preparedness and resilience in the event of flooding or another natural disaster.
I worked with Senators Grassley and Ernst to secure a new provision in the 2024 Water Resources Development Act to support critical flood risk management projects in the Cedar Rapids.
President Biden recently signed this legislation, and I look forward to continued bipartisan work on flood mitigation with my colleagues under President Trump.
While we can't control the weather, we can control our preparedness, and I'll always make this a priority.
Other actions
I joined Wake Up America on Newsmax to discuss how House Republicans are already advancing the Trump Agenda under Speaker Johnson.
A little snow in Washington, D.C. didn't stop us from certifying President Trump's historic election win.
I weighed in on the Supreme Court decision to protect the integrity of girls' sports.
We celebrated Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I'll always back the blue and ensure our Iowa law enforcement officers have the resources they need.
