County gives $40,000 for pool

MARENGO — Iowa County Supervisors approved a resolution Friday to give the City of Marengo $40,000 toward the construction of the city’s new swimming pool.

The County agreed to the contribution in October of 2022.

“They needed our support to get a grant,” said Iowa County Supervisor Abby Maas.

According to the resolution, the county signed a pledge agreement with the city two years ago. The Resolution authorizes the Iowa County Auditor to pay the money to the City of Marengo on or before July 1.

The $4.3 million pool project is coming in on budget and on time, said Marengo City Administrator Karla Marck earlier this month. The pool will be completed too late to open this season but is expected to open in the spring of 2025.
