MARENGO — Iowa County Supervisors have the county attorney’s office looking into its contractual obligations with Poweshiek Water Association.
Iowa County contracts with Poweshiek County Water for water at the former county home off M Avenue, which Bayer uses for housing for migrant workers, said Supervisor Chairman Kevin Heitshusen.
Poweshiek Water is asking Iowa County to put in a 5,000-gallon storage tank to help alleviate water issues when demand is high — in the evenings when the workers come home from the fields, said Heitshusen.
Supervisors have questioned whether the county’s contract with Poweshiek Water obligates the county to obey the request at the county’s expense.
They’ve asked the county attorney for an opinion, but they’re also looking into the cost and logistics for the project.
