Deep River hosts Fun Days this weekend

DEEP RIVER — “Making Fun Memories — 140 years” is the theme of the 2024 Deep River Fun Days slated for July 12-14.
There are plenty of family-friendly activities, including a scavenger hunt, good food and fun games scheduled throughout the three days.
Friday, July 12:
5:30 p.m. — American Legion Flag Raising ceremony at the Deep River Community Center.
5:15 — 8 p.m. — Deep River Helping Hands 4-H Club Maid Rite supper with cowboy beans, chips, dessert, lemonade and tea at the community center. To-go boxes will be available. Cost is a freewill donation.
A silent auction will take place in the evening.
6 p.m. — Announcement of Fun Days King and Queen at 4-H dinner at the community center.
7 p.m. — Kids pedal tractor pull, ages 4 — 11, to qualify for state. (Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.)
Scavenger Hunt — Pick up up a search list from 5:15 — 7 p.m. in the community center or Saturday, July 13 from 11 a.m. — noon at the American Legion root beer stand. Return completed search lists to the water bill drop off box by the city office on Carl St.) by 6 p.m. Sunday. Prizes will be awarded.
Saturday, July 13
9 a.m. — Cutie contest at the community center. (Registration at 8:45 a.m.)
9 a.m. — Main parade lineup and sign-in downtown at County Bank on Main Street.
10 a.m. — Parade starts downtown at the corner of School and Main Streets.
A kiddie parade will follow the main parade at the corner of Locust and School Streets to Main Street.
Following parades, children’s games will be set up. Sign-up required for some games. Fairytale Faces, Coco’s Creations Candy & More and Deep River Legion Root Beer Floats will be on hand.
Food and drink will be provided by SALS, Legion Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary. A bake sale will be set up at pavilion.
The concession stand will be open at the ballpark by the American Legion Auxiliary and Junior Auxiliary.
Deep River Volunteer Fire Department will host a two-person bean bag tournament at 11 a.m. Cost is $40 per team.
11:45 a.m. — Dedication of the new pavilion by SALS.
Bingo begins at the community center at 12:30 p.m. and will run to 2:30 p.m. Cost is 50 cents per card and a 50/50 pot will be awarded.
The greased (soapy) pig contest for ages 7-13 will take place Saturday.
5 — 8 p.m. — Alumni dinner (preregistration $20 or $22 at the door), prepared by Hometown Café in Millersburg.
8 p.m. — midnight — Fireman’s ball at the Deep River fire station, featuring Hard Barney Rock & Roll. Tickets available for raffle items.
Sunday, July 14
9 a.m. — Ecumenical church service under a tent at the community center. Bring a non-perishable food items for Montezuma Food Pantry or cash donations.
