Deep River woman dies on icy road

DEEP RIVER — A Deep River woman died Monday when her car hit ice on Highway 85 west of town and rolled multiple times.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Kara A. Westphal, 45, of Deep River, was driving a 2005 Ford Escort west on Iowa Highway 85 about 7:05 a.m. Jan. 5. Due to icy road conditions, the car left the road on a curve and overturned multiple times.
Westphal was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the report says.
