Donations still sought as fundraising for Marengo pool nears goal

I am one of the members of the Marengo Pool Committee. As I am sure most of you are aware, the Pool Committee has been soliciting funds for the construction of a new swimming pool in Marengo, Iowa. To date we have received donations for the pool of $800,000. We also applied for and will receive a CAT Grant from the Iowa Enhance Board in the amount of $220,000. We are approaching the goal that we set to assist in the construction of the new swimming pool. However, if we can raise another $100,000 for the pool our anonymous donor will contribute an additional $50,000 beyond what our donor has previously paid.

If you have not made a donation to the pool or if you wish to increase your previous donation now would certainly be the time to do so. It is the City’s intent to send bids to possible contractors on April 23, 2023, to pen the bids received on June 8, 2023, and award the bid on June 14, 2023, with the construction to start on Aug. 1, 2023. We will, of course, continue to raise funds after the construction of the pool has started until it is completed.

You may make a donation to the pool by making a check out to the City of Marengo and forwarding it to the Pool Committee at PO Box 267, Marengo, Iowa 52301. All donors who donate $100 or more will have their names recognized on a donor wall to be installed on the wall of the bath house when it is completed. Be sure when sending your check to indicate how you wish to have your name displayed on the donor wall.

The Pool Committee and I wish to thank everyone in Marengo and in the surrounding communities who have so graciously supported our endeavors and hope you will continue to support the Marengo swimming pool going forward.
