Elberon Legion Auxiliary meets
Oct. 23, 2023 1:56 pm
KEYSTONE — The Elberon American Legion Auxiliary met Oct. 12 at the bakery in Keystone for lunch.
President Lorraine Vileta called the meeting to order. Four members and one guest were present. Marce Nekola bought lunch.
Secretary Norma Riha read the minutes from September’s meeting and Treasurer Pat Sauer gave the financial report.
The Auxiliary was informed that the return address on the membership notice was incorrect, but it was corrected for the second notice that will come out next month.
The Department sent notice that membership fees will increase by $2 next year, so the Department will get $28 of the $30.00 auxiliary dues.
The auxiliary will count the number of poppies it has left before sending an order to the veteran’s home.
The auxiliary signed a sympathy card for the Charlie Vesely family and read an email from County President Diane Caloud asking if members would like to tour the veteran’s home to see how rag rugs are made.
The auxiliary discussed the bake sale it will have with the Elberon Fire and Rescue fish fry Nov. 17 from 5-7 p.m.
The joint Tama County Legion and Auxiliary meeting was set for Oct. 24 and was to include a memorial service for members who passed away this past year.
