English Valleys girls’ cross-country ranked 15th in IATC Preseason poll

The Iowa Association of Track coaches released their preseason team and individual cross-country rankings earlier this week.

Throughout the season a weekly poll will be released each Monday (individual) and Tuesday (team) with updated rankings.

Team rankings include the top 20 in each class, and individual rankings include the top 30, as voted on by the rankings committee.

Three area teams and one individual made the preseason polls this week.

The English Valleys girls’ team came in at 15th in the preseason poll. The Bears came just short of making it to State as a team last season and have the potential to take the next step this season.

In class 3A, the Williamsburg boys’ came in at 19th and the girls’ team 16th.

The lone area individual to make the list is Gage Heyne of English Valleys who comes in ranked ninth in the Class 1A boys’ poll. Heyne finished ninth at the State meet last year.

The cross-country season gets underway next week with meets starting on Monday.
