English Valleys places 8th in 1A girls’ race
Frazier runs season best in final race

FORT DODGE — They came in ranked 10th and finished eighth.
The English Valleys girls cross-country team competed at the state meet for the second straight season Saturday at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
Temperatures were similar to those for Friday’s races, in the low 40s, with just a little less wind.
Anna Luers paced the Bears with a 42nd-place finish in 20:37.1.
Addison Achenbach (75th), Kaylynn Caster (90th) and Aubrey Achenbach (92nd) also finished in the top 100.
The Bears’ fifth scorer, Kaylee Frazier, ran a season best to finish 114th.
Frazier is the lone senior of the Bears’ six runners that competed Saturday.
South Winneshiek took the 1A girls’ team title with a team score of 125. St. Albert’s Lili Denton claimed the individual title in 17:56.6.
Two area runners competed in the 1A boys’ race. English Valleys’ Isaac Frazier finished 68th in 17:49.5, and BGM’s Carter Corona was 107th.
Frazier, now a two-time qualifier, and Corona are only sophomores and will be back next season.
South Winneshiek’s Hugh Conway won the boys’ race in 15:50.7.
