English Valleys wins final outing

EASTON VALLEY — English Valleys wrapped up the 2023 football season Friday night, Oct. 20, with a 46-40 win at Easton Valley.

The Bears trailed the River Hawks 18-6 after one quarter before rallying in the second period to take a 28-24 halftime lead.

English Valleys went on to outscore Easton Valley 18-16 in the second half to record its second straight win, ending their season with a 4-5 record.

Senior quarterback Myles Grove and sophomore tailback Deshon Anderson led the Bears.

Grove ran for one touchdown and passed for three others — one each to Anderson, Luke Moore and Ben Flander.

Anderson had three rushing touchdowns and gained 217 yards on 21 carriers. He added a team-high eight solo tackles on defense.

Moore and Grove each chipped in six solo tackles, and Moore recovered a River Hawks fumble.

Three seniors donned an English Valleys uniform for the final time in their high school careers, including Grove, Coen Good and Corey Brees.

“They’ll be missed,” said English Valleys Coach Brennen Grimm.
