EV wins sectional golf

NEW LONDON — English Valleys won the Class 1A Sectional boys’ golf meet Wednesday, May 8, at Deerwood Golf Club in New London.

The Bears were led by junior Gage Heyne, who won medalist honors with a 77. He was followed on the overall leaderboard by teammates Eli Marsh (80) and Tyler Lortz (84). Luke Moore provided the final scoring round (95).

English Valleys advanced to the District Meet set for Monday, May 13, at Wapello.

HLV junior Peyton Roth earned medalist honors at the Class 1A Sectional boys golf meet Wednesday, May 8, at Meadowview Golf & Country Club in Springville.

Roth helped lead the Warriors to a second-place finish, earning the team a spot at the Wapello District Meet.

Roth carded a 76, four strokes better than runner-up Sawyer Stout of Keota (80).

HLV finished 16 strokes back of Keota (333) and four strokes up on Springville (353).
