The first Bucket Course of 2024 welcomes Grinnell College Professor Tamara Beauboeuf and her presentation “Becoming Edith Renfrow: Snapshots of an Affirmed Early 20th Century Black Girl.” The presentation will take place from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Caulkins Community Room at the Drake Community Library at Grinnell college. Bucket Courses are open to everyone in the community; no preregistration or fee is required. Donations to help pay for refreshments are welcome.

The Heart of Iowa Dems and the Iowa Democratic Party Disability Caucus will host a roundtable discussion of disability-related bills in the legislature at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Iowa County Kirkwood will host Cookie and Canvas from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 200 West St. in Williamsburg. The class is designed for school-age students with a parent or other adult. Participants will paint gnomes on canvas. The cost is $40. Call 319-668-2461 to register.

State Sen. Molly Donahue will join a Grant Wood Area Education Agency spokesperson to discuss proposed AEA legislation at 5:30 p.m. the Millstream Brau Haus, 741 47th Ave. in Amana. Iowa County State legislators have been invited. The meeting is open to the public.
