Wednesday, Oct. 4
Professor Sharon Quinsaat will present a Bucket Course lecture titled “The Experience and Meaning of Homeland Trips Among Filipino Immigrants.” The course will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Caulkins Community Room at the Drake Community Library. Bucket Courses are open to everyone in the community; no preregistration or fee is required. Donations toward refreshments are welcome.
North English Library Lego Club will meet after school for 45 minutes, about 2:30-3:15 p.m., to tackle building challenges.

North English Public Library hosts Page-Turners Book Club after school until 4:15 p.m. for children in grades 3-6. Teen group will follow for students in 7th through 12th grades. Volunteers will provide snacks.

North English library has a short story or two, some songs and simple coloring activities for children 1-3 years old during Toddler Time from 10-10:20 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 7
The Rod Pierson Big Band, featuring Craig Boche, will perform at The Amana Performing Arts Center from 7-10 p.m. The 13-member band combines world class musicians with a legendary music library of swing, big band, jump, ballads and contemporary charges, according to a news release from the Amanas. The Iowa County Historical Society Museum will host a fall festival on its grounds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Society will demonstrate pioneer skills such as rope making. Food choices include walking tacos, cookies, apple cider and homemade ice cream. Bob Gerard will give wagon rides with his mules, weather permitting. Music will be provided by a fiddle player. The museum is located at 675 E. South St. in Marengo.
Sunday, Oct. 8
Iowa County Democrats will host its second annual Hot Dog Caucus from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Lake Iowa Nature Conservatory, 2550 G Ave. in Ladora. Guests will include U.S. House District 1 Candidate Christina Bohannan, Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Rita Hart, Iowa Senate Democratic Leader Pam Jochum and Iowa House Democratic Leader Jennifer Konfrst.
Tuesday, Oct. 10
Iowa County Health Department will conduct a drive-through flu vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to noon. here is no-cost to the patient. Medical insurance will be billed. Call 319-741-6422 to make an appointment.
Wednesday, Oct. 11
The Williamsburg Public Library will hold its early-out Lego club for third through sixth grades from 1-2:45 p.m. Sign-up is required and sessions are limited to 20 participants. Children are required to stay the full session unless picked up by a guardian. Contact the library to sign up.

The final Marengo farmers market takes place today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Park Pavilion.
The Friends of Iowa County Conservation Foundation hosts its annual benefit supper at the Lake Iowa Nature Center, 2550 G. Ave. in Ladora. A wine tasting and silent auction will be part of the event. A catered dinner begins at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the wine tasting. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased from any Friends board member. Marengo Community Development presents the Classic Car Cruise from 4-6 p.m. on the Marengo square. Residents are encouraged to bring their classic cars and cruise the Court as in old times, stop at restaurants and enjoy an ice cream cone at the Ice Cream Show.
Violinist Hoi Ting Davidson, who lived in rural Iowa as a girl, returns with The Hymn Project. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at Celebration Hall, 1421 540th St. SW in Kalona. General admission tickets are $15 in advance, $5.00 for students and $20.00 at the door.
Tuesday, Oct. 17
The Amana Library will host an ImpactLife Blood Drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. in the Donor Bus, Amana Library/Elementary, 3023 220th Trail, Middle Amana. Each donor will receive a $10 gift card or 500 bonus points to the Impact Donor Store to spend on donor gear. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds and possess a photo ID.
