Thursday, Feb. 22
The First Presbyterian Church at the corner of Marengo Avenue and Marion Street in Marengo will host a Winter Warm-Up soup lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church will serve chicken noodle soup, potato soup and minestrone with sausage soup, rolls, relishes, desserts and beverages. Dine-in meals are available for an offering. Carry-out meals cost $7. Proceeds will support the local and global missions of Presbyterian Women.
Friday, Feb. 23
American Legion Post 76 will host a soup supper from 5-7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 1669 Court Ave. in Marengo. The price is $10 per meal, dine in or takeout. Delivery is available in Marengo.
Saturday, Feb. 24
North English Christian Church will host a soup supper from 4-6 p.m. at the church, 131 North Howard St. in North English. The church requests a donation in exchange for the meal.
Iowa County Ambulance Service will present information about their services, CPR, the Heimlich maneuver and the use of an automated external defibrillator at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 803 Clearview Drive in Williamsburg. Heart-healthy desserts will be served following the presentation. A free-will donation will provide money to purchase an AED for the church.
Sunday, Feb. 25
Amana Church continues its winter symposium series of talks at 2 p.m. Scheduled are “Power to the People: the Amana Millrace Slideshow” by Lanny Haldy and “A Sense of Place: the Inspirationists and Their Environment” by Peter Hoehnle.
Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church will host a Community Hymn Sing at 6 p.m. Anyone may prepare a piece of special music or a favorite reading to perform. The public is invited to bring a favorite finger food snack item to share following the performances.
The Hartwick Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon. Firefighters will serve pancakes, sausage and ham, scrambled and fried eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee and will sell raffle tickets for a noon drawing for a Ruger American Bolt Action 450 Bushmaster, a Blackstone LP four-burner griddle from County Bank, a 25-pound bacon package from Derek and Dustin Kriegel and a hand carved American Flag measuring 20 feet by 37 feet from Hartwick Ag.
Wednesday, Feb. 28
Author and historian O.J. Fargo will reenact what it was like to be a Civil War soldier returning from battle during a presentation at 1 p.m. at Marengo Public Library, The presentation is brought by Friends of the Marengo Library.
