Marengo Public Library will help children create Fourth of July crafts as part of the library’s summer reading program. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 13 to attend programs at the library.
Join a guest reader for Story Time at the city park in Williamsburg at 10:30 a.m. Following story time, children can help water the library’s gardens with the Iowa County Master Gardeners.

Become an architect of imagination at the Marengo Public Library. The Children’s Museum will present Big Blue Blocks as part of the Marengo library’s summer reading program. Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 13 to attend programs at the library. The program is free. No registration is required.
A group of concerned voters who want to have a civilized conversation about the presidential debate will host a non-partisan presidential debate watch party at Sundown Bar & Grill, 112 W. State St. in Williamsburg. The debate begins at 8 p.m.
Friday, June 28
Students of a weeklong theater camp at Brooklyn Opera House will perform the play “Johnny and Me” at 7 p.m. at the Opera House. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children.
Sunday, June 30
Community Church in Deep River will host a 100th anniversary celebration beginning with a light breakfast at 8 a.m. The 9 a.m. service will feature music and stories from the past. A group photo will be taken at 10 a.m. A worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon at noon. The church is located at 1417 F52 Trail.
Frank Mertz will discuss his enterprise, The English River Duck Works, Sunday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at English Valleys History Center. Mertz will have examples of his work on display. The program is free. Donations will be accepted. The History Center is located at 108 N. Main St. in North English.

Williamsburg Public Library hosts Cache Quest, a Geocache workshop at 3 p.m. at the library. Sign up is required and open to ages 12 and older.
Marengo’s Independence Day celebration begins with a 5K run and walk at 7:30 a.m. beginning on the north side of the city square. The car show begins at 8 a.m., and horseshoes games start at 10 a.m. Food vendors will serve in the park form 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A bags tournament begins at noon, and children will compete for Little Miss and Mister at 2 p.m. Leanne’s School of Dance will perform at the bandstand at 2:45. Childrens activities on Marengo Avenue from 1-5 p.m. include a rock wall and dunk tank. A pedal pull begins after 1 p.m. The annual parade starts at 5:30 p.m. at the south end of Court Avenue. Rolle Bolle begins at 7 p.m. on the square. Boot Jack Band will perform from 6:30-9:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at Gateway Park.
Dogs on Skis will perform at the American Legion Hall at 1669 Court Ave. in Marengo from 9 p.m. to midnight as part of Marengo’s July 3 celebration.
Belle Plaine will have pre-July 4 events at Franklin Park, on 10th Ave. Chicken Chip Bingo is set for 4-7 p.m. for $10 per game. with a cash prize of $250. A bags tournament will take place from 5-8 p.m. and a petting zoo, sponsored by Cheshire Moon Farms will be at the park from 4-7 p.m. A car show begins at 4 p.m. Door prizes will be awarded at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. and the trophy presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m.
