Darcy Daugherty, author of “Iowa’s Lost History on the Titanic,” will explain what an orphan train rider, a kidnapper, a betrayed wife and church missionaries have in common during a program at the Marengo Public Library at 1 p.m. For more information, call 319-7641-3825.

Thursday, Oct. 19
The Amana Library will host an ImpactLife Blood Drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. in the Donor Bus a the Amana Library/Elementary, 3023 220th Trail, Middle Amana. Each donor will receive a $10 gift card or 500 bonus points to the Impact Donor Store to spend on donor gear. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds and possess a photo ID. Friday, Oct. 20
The Victor Area Historical Society will conduct its annual meeting from 11 a.m. to noon at the Victor Public Library. Anyone interested in preserving Victor’s history is encouraged to attend.
North English library has a short story or two, some songs and simple coloring activities for children 1-3 years old during Toddler Time from 10-10:20 a.m.
Ladora’s Haunted Barn is open from 7-11 p.m. Located at 1694 Hwy. 6 Trail, the nonprofit Haunted Barn offers scares and laughs for $12 per person.

Saturday, Oct. 21
The Marengo Fall Festival kicks off at 7 a.m. with Sam’s 5k fun run registration. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Iowa Valley High School. Children’s activities begin at noon, and Wes the Balloon Guy will be in Marengo City Park from 1-3 p.m. Leanne’s School of Dance will perform from 1:45-2:30 p.m. at the bandstand. A children’s costume contest will follow. Trunk-or-treat starts at 3:15 p.m. at the southwest corner of the park.
Compass Memorial Healthcare Foundation will sell frozen casseroles during the Marengo Fall Festival. Casseroles can be purchased and picked up at the Eva Goettsch Dental office beginning at noon. Four casseroles are available for $15 each: farmer’s casserole (hash brown and ham), Mexican casserole (beef), lasagna (beef) or chicken enchiladas.

Tuesday, Oct. 24
Historian Rod Stanley will present the 1933 history of the exploits of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow at the Marengo Public Library Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m.
Mediaverse Studios in Marengo is hosting an open house and launch party at 6 p.m. The studio is located at 1000 E. Hilton St. in Marengo. Residents and filmmakers can meet and network. Refreshments will be served, and meals can be purchased from a food truck on-site. The event is free.
Wednesday, Oct. 25
The Williamsburg Public Library will hold its early-out Lego Club for first and second grades from 1-2:45 p.m. Sign-up is required, and sessions are limited to 20 participants. Children are required to stay the full session unless picked up by a guardian. Contact the Library to sign up.
