Keystone Turner Hall will host its 2024 Tractorcade ride for A.J. Gale. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Drivers will leave the hall at 10 a.m. The cost is $40 per entry plus a $20 rider fee. Lunch is included.
Iowa Lake Nature Center, 2550 G Ave in Ladora, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day’s theme is mammals. A program will begin at 1 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 18
Lindsey Phillips, from Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services, will be the guest speaker at First Lutheran Church of rural Conroy at 10 a.m. She will share information about foster and adoptive care needs in Iowa. With a gift of money from Thrivent and church members, First Lutheran Church is gathering hygiene care products and books to send with her for the children. The public is invited to attend.
The Iowa County Pioneer Museum is hosting a special celebration of National Aviation Day, which observes the birthday of Orville Wright (who resided as a child in Cedar Rapids) at 2 p.m. on the museum campus. David Wendell will deliver the historical society’s 2024 Summer lecture as the Keynote Speaker for the event. Titled “The Navy Gets Its Wings: Iowa County’s Daredevil Aviator Eugene Ely,” it will present the story of how a young mechanic from landlocked Williamsburg introduced the world to the possibilities and practicality of creating a mobile Naval force of planes at sea.
Iowa County Conservation will be among exhibitors at the 13th Annual Pelican Festival at Hawkeye Wildlife Area, 2564 Amana Rd. NW in Swisher. Programs about the American White Pelican, Osprey, Turtles and Mussels begin at 12:30 and run through 3 p.m. The festival is free.
Jason Grimm will kick off his campaign for Iowa County Board of Supervisors from 3-5 p.m. at his home, 2835 225th St. in Williamsburg. Residents can bring lawn chairs and listen to Grimm detail his focus on revitalizing rural life through entrepreneurship, conservation, and generational growth.
North English Christian Church will host an ice cream social from 2-4 p.m. The church is located at 131 N. Howard St. in North English.

Williamsburg Public Library will host a puzzle swap from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Take a puzzle to the library and swap it for a different one. The puzzle swap offers a diverse selection for all ages and interests.

Kirkwood Community College hosts Kick Off Night from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to gear up for the academic year ahead. Enjoy refreshments and door prizes and learn about the many programs offered at Kirkwood including college credit in high school, workplace learning connection, high school completion, continuing education and programs on the main campus.
