The Iowa County Public Health Department is offering flu vaccines from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Millersburg Community Center. The cost is $10. Vaccines are free to those who present Medicare/Medicaid insurance cards.

The Poweshiek County League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum at 7 p.m. at Grinnell’s Drake Library.
The Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Carnegie building at 200 S. Third St. in Montezuma. The public is invited to hear about Grinnell's Candyland, presented by Roberta See. Refreshments will be served.

The theme for this year’s Oktoberfest in the Amana Colonies, set for Oct. 4-6, is Famous Frauen.

Sunday, Oct. 6
The Iowa County Historical Society annual fall festival will have demonstrations of pioneer skills — including the making of apple cider. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Heritage Museum at 675 E. South St. in Marengo. Activities continue to 1 p.m. The museum will serve a meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
To commemorate the 165th anniversary of the beginning of the historic Rock Island link from Iowa City to Marengo, the Iowa County Historical Society will host a special lecture and exhibit titled “The Grip of the CRIP: The Legacy of the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad in Iowa” at 2 p.m. at the Iowa County Historical Society Pioneer Heritage Museum, in Marengo. Historian David V. Wendell will display more than fifty model trains and deliver the keynote address.

Butler’s Bunch Sharing for Hope cancer support will meet at 6:30 p.m. but in a new location. During hospital construction, Butler’s Bunch will meet in the education room of Compass Memorial Healthcare (down the main hallway to the lobby and to the right before provider’s photos).
