The North English Community Club will host a trunk-or-treat from 4-6 p.m. in the parking of lot of the English Valleys Residential Care Center at 150 W Washington St. in North English.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg will host a trunk-or-treat from 5 p.m. until dark. The church is located at 500 Clark St. in Williamsburg.
Friday, Nov. 1
The fourth annual Fundraiser Gala for Brooklyn Community Development is set for 5 p.m. at the Michael J Manatt Community Center. The funds raised at this event help maintain and improve community facilities, including the Opera House, Michael J Manatt Community Center and the newly renovated First National Bank Building.
“It’s a Girl Thing: Life from a Feminine Perspective,” by Deb Kennedy, is coming to The Amana Performing Arts Center. Dedicated to women of strength and courage who are real and honest, women who can laugh at themselves, but are also sometimes broken, “Girl Thing” will take the stage 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are available at tkmtheatricalproductions.com. Iowa Conservation Commission will teach the art of arranging dry native stems at 1 p.m. at the Lake Iowa Nature Center, 2550 G. Ave. in Ladora. The event is free, but registration is required. Email mblair@iowacounty.iowa.gov to register.
Book Lover’s Day is Saturday, Nov. 2. Victor Public Library will celebrate with a morning of middle school styled book reports. Participants will provide brief summaries of books they enjoyed and recommend to others. The event begins at 10 a.m. All ages are welcome. Coffee, tea and a light breakfast will be provided. The library is located at 710 Second St. in Victor.

St. Michael Catholic Church will host a fall dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 per meal. On the menu are turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes and gravy, sweet corn, sauerkraut, salad, pie and kolache. The church is located at 1302 Ninth Ave. in Belle Plaine. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. across Iowa. Check the county auditor’s office or the Iowa Secretary of State’s website, sos.iowa.gov, for polling locations.
An election day luncheon will be served at St. Bridget’s Church in Victor from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal will feature chicken noodle soup and chili, a baked potato bar and pie. The church is located at 104 Third St. in Victor.
