Thursday, Sept. 18
Iowa County Historical Society Pioneer Heritage Museum is open from noon to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays through September. The museum is located at 675 E. South St. in Marengo.
Saturday, Sept. 20
Belle Plaine will host its second annual Cider Stroll from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors will line the streets with pumpkins and mums, fresh breads and sweet treats. Many local merchants will have specials. Activities for children will include a petting zoo. Parking and admission are free. Jim Magdefrau and Grace Atkinson will provide live music.
The Iowa County Heartland Quilters will present Quilts Amongst the Vines quilt show at Fireside Winery from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Member quilts and quilted items will be displayed as will community service projects and honor quits for veterans. The showcase quilt this year is “Tropical Sunrise.” Tickets to win the quilt are $1 each or six for $5.
Sunday, Sept. 21
Greg Bouljon from the Quad Cities will perform as Willard Velie at the EV History Center at 2 p.m. Velie, a grandson of John Deere, founded the Velie Engineering Company, and in 1916, he merged this company with the Velie Carriage Company of Moline, which he had founded with his brother Stephen in 1907. Mahannah Harness Shop, at 113 S. Main in North English, sold Velie buggies there over a century ago. The English Valleys History Center is located at 108 N Main, North English, Iowa. All are invited to attend this event at no charge. Donations are accepted
Wednesday, Sept. 24
Iowa County Master Gardeners will host salsa tasting at the North English Community Center at 11:30 a.m. Attendees can sample several varieties of salsa and vote for their favorite.
