Butler’s Bunch Sharing for Hope cancer support group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, 300 W. May St. During construction, Butler’s Bunch will meet in education room, down the main hallway to lobby and to the right before provider’s photos. Butler’s Bunch Sharing for Hope welcomes those being treated for cancer, who have had cancer, have been or are caregivers, are survivors, including school age students and anyone touched by cancer. Meetings are informal. Those who wish may share experiences as a patient, caregiver or may simply listen. For information or to find out how to take part online, contact Elle Krakow at 319-642-8083.
The Keokuk County Historical Society, 402 E. Elm St. in Sigourney, is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements for visiting other days can be arranged by calling 641-622-3005 and leaving a message.
Saturday, May 17
Digging in the Dirt, a family activity by the Iowa Count Master Gardeners and the libraries in Marengo, North English, Victor and Williamsburg begins at 10 a.m. at each library. Participants will learn about potting and taking care of plants. They’ll receive their own wheelbarrows, plant seeds and plant corms, transplant seedlings, and plant sedums. A watering can and trowel will accompany each wheelbarrow (one kit per family). Registration is open until the session fills. Each kit is $10. Parents must accompany children to the event.
