Fairness requires equal treatment under the law
Apr. 6, 2023 2:55 pm
To the Editor,
Gov. Reynolds is repeating Republican talking points by saying that prosecution of former President Trump in New York is politically motivated and shows signs of unequal treatment. No, the prosecution of former President Trump is being done fairly through the same judicial process that ordinary citizens face if indicted by a grand jury. It would be political and unfair if Trump were exempt from accountability. He will be able to present his defense in court.
I remember being taught in grade school in the 1950s that what makes America great is that we are led by democratically elected representatives, and that we are all subject to the same laws all the way up to the president. If Gov. Reynolds is concerned about political persecutions, it would be more appropriate if she would comment on hyper partisan Congressman Jim Jordan’s use of his Government Weaponization Committee to smear Democrats and to interfere in the New York hush money case.
Let the justice system work.
