I am a farmer near Brooklyn, Iowa. Conservation programs are essential for family farmers, helping them earn income and protect their soil.
I’m reaching out because we need a united Farm Bill to safeguard these vital conservation efforts for Iowa’s future. Programs like the Conservation Stewardship Program and the Environmental Quality Incentives Program have supported farmers like me in caring for our soil, safeguarding water quality and investing in the long-term health of our land.
These programs only succeed because they are part of a broad, bipartisan Farm Bill that unites people across rural and urban communities. If that unity breaks down, we risk losing the coalition that has made conservation funding possible.
Iowa farmers are ready to do their part in managing the land responsibly. Still, we need Congress to maintain the full range of programs that promote sustainable farming. Conservation isn’t a minor issue — it is essential to our farms, our environment, and our way of life.
I urge our Senators to support a strong, united Farm Bill that continues to prioritize conservation and strengthen rural communities.
