Oct. 20, 2023 8:21 am
WEST DES MOINES — Speakers at the Farming for the Future Conference next month will offer insight into new state regulations impacting livestock and poultry farmers.
The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is hosting its eighteenth annual Farming for the Future Conference Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny.
This year’s conference, “Rules, Regulations and the Future of Your Farm,” will provide strategies for managing risk, an overview of the global ag market, ways to determine the financial feasibility of livestock production and a commodity market outlook, the Coalition said in a news release.
The conference will conclude with an Ask the Expert panel addressing the new livestock rule changes and their impact on building new livestock barn and feedlots.
Matt Erickson, ag economic and policy adviser with Farm Credit Services of America, will kick off the event by providing an overview of the global agriculture market outlook and what that could potentially mean for Iowa’s livestock farmers in the coming year.
Other industry experts include Christopher Pudenz, an economist with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, who will provide an Iowa agriculture economic outlook; Eldon McAfee, with the Brick Gentry Law Firm; and Chris Gruenhagen, government relations counsel with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, who will offer insight into the new rules and regulations impacting Iowa farmers in 2024.
Brian Waddingham, with the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers, will discuss the impacts new rules and regulations will have on Iowa’s livestock and poultry farms, and company representatives will offer unique products and services to livestock and poultry farmers.
Registration, including a complimentary lunch, is free if completed by Nov. 27. A $20.00 fee will be charged for registrations after that date.
