NORTH ENGLISH — Carol Trier presented a slideshow about honey bees, which she raises, during the March 13 meeting of the North English Fortnightly Women's Club.
Trier brought along one of her beehives and explained how the bees use it to make their honey. Following her presentation, she shared samples and products of the honey and bees.
Janice Leinen and Kathy Huber were hosts for the March meeting at the EV History Center in North English. They served a dessert following the meeting.
Thirteen members were in attendance and responded to the question, "If you had a time machine and could take one trip, would you visit the future or the past, and why?"
Ruthi Henson shared the meditation, a poem written by Mildred M North, "Lily of the Valley,“ which Henson found in an Easter issue of Ideals magazine, published in 1954.
Bonnie shared the news that Carolyn Elwood expects to return home, along with Mike, in April.
Linda Lee said Patty Best is doing well and sends her greetings.
Kathy received a thank you from Gae Wofford for the Valentines the club donated to the patrons of the Community Center.
Amy had received a thank you from Marissa Allison for the $50 donation for her trip to Africa.
Linda Lee said that Sondra Aldrich had a tooth pulled, which is why she was not in attendance.
Kathy said that Compass Memorial didn’t want Stephanie Healy to accept the $50 donation for her February presentation to the group. Members voted to donate the money to the Compass Memorial Health Foundation.
Kathy Huber reported a balance of $2088.13 at the February meeting. With expenses of $250 to PACE, $50 to Marissa Allison for her mission trip to Africa and $500 to the English Valleys Community Scholarship Foundation, the club’s balance is now $1288.13.
Due to Carolyn's current health issue, Sue Banning will host the May meeting.
In Tara's absence, Ruthi read her article regarding the Blood Worm Moon with a lunar eclipse, which would be at it's best viewing early March 14.
Dawn Bouslog will present at the April 10 meeting. Members will meet at 7 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Greenhouse. Kim and Sarah will supply treats.
