Nov. 15, 2023 11:08 am
NORTH ENGLISH — The North English Fortnightly Women’s Club conducted its annual silent auction during its monthly meeting.
Ruthi Henson, Tara Heyne and Tami Marsh were co-hostesses for the meeting at the English Valleys History Center Nov. 9.
Amy asked members enter into the first round of bidding prior to calling the meeting to order and reciting the flag pledge and club collect.
Twenty members answered the roll call question, what was your worst purchase ever? Tami presented Meditation with a Veterans Day reading of “Heros Live Forever” and a birthday poem for Tara before a second round a bidding in the silent auction.
Tara read the September meeting minutes, as none were taken at the October lunch outing. The minutes were approved with a correction.
Trish thanked the club for the cards she received after John’s passing. Kathy shared the treasurer’s report, noting that she had deposited dues for four members, bringing the balance as of Nov. 9 to $1,351.64.
Sue Mertz told the club that Nov. 9 was Chaos Never Dies Day, that the panda bears have been shipped back to China, and that Ollie’s Bargain Market (a discount chain carrying a wide range of closeout merchandise) has opened in Sycamore Mall.
Amy added that Katie Taukei won a seat on the school board and the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy measure passed during the Nov. 7 election.
The meeting adjourned and the final round of bidding took place. Pumpkin bars, apple crisp and beverages were served while the committee organized and awarded the winning bids.
