Fortnightly hears history of community center

NORTH ENGLISH — The September meeting of the North English Fortnightly Women's Club was held Sept. 12 at the English Valleys History Center.
Mary Glaspie and Tammy Stanerson were hostesses.
Pat Denison shared Meditation with a reading titled “Take Time for Ten Things.”
Twenty members answered roll call by sharing their favorite summer 2024 memory.
Gae Wofford presented the program about the North English Community Center, its history, how it runs, who it serves what building updates have been completed.
Last year the Center served more than 8,300 meals to homes.
Fortnightly members brought paper goods to the meeting to be donated to the English Valleys Food Bank.
Summer income related to membership dues amounted to $370.00. Expenses for North English Fun Days, FFA Flowers and History Center rental amounted to $500, bringing the club’s balance to $996.64.
The October lunch outing will be at Northside Diner in Washington. Members should RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 2. Members will meet there at 10:30 a.m.
Bonnie Romine reported that Dave Jackson will no longer accept payment for the club’s use of The History Center. Trish Gaherty provided the News Flash and shared information about Costco’s bestselling items.
