NORTH ENGLISH — The North English Fortnightly Women's Club met Nov. 14 at the English Valleys History Center. Ruth Henson, Tara Heyne and Tami Marsh hosted the meeting.
Amy Andreassen called the meeting to order, and Susan Elwood shared readings about thankfulness and read a comparison of Thanksgivings now and in the past.
Twenty-one members answered roll call by sharing personal memories of Helen Bucher. Andreassen announced the first round of bidding for the Fortnightly silent auction.
Tara Heyne read the minutes from the September meeting, and Kathy Huber shared the Treasurer’s Report.
Income related to membership dues and donations amounted to $220. Program books cost the club $54.51, bringing the balance as of Nov. 14 to $1162.13.
Members discussed what to do when a member passes away. The club voted to give $50 to The History Center in Helen Bucher’s name.
Andreassen shared information regarding the December meeting and asked members to bring donations of nice quality fabric to that meeting. She then opened the second round of bidding on silent auction items.
Sarah Ernst shared a Time Magazine article that mentioned Caitlin Clark as an inspiration and an influential woman in women’s basketball.
Andreassen said LOVE Network cards are available throughout the community. The Club received a thank-you note from Gae Wofford for the invitation to speak at September’s meeting.
The meeting adjourned, and members entered the third and final round of bidding in the silent auction. Members gathered around pumpkin bars, apple crisp and cider while the winning bids and items were compiled.
