Fortnightly women hear about gratitude

NORTH ENGLISH -- The February meeting of the North English Fortnightly Women’s Club was held Feb. 1 at the English Valleys History Center.
Co-hostesses were Joelle Jensen and Katie Taukei.
Tammy Stanerson shared read Philippians 4: 8-9 and spoke about journaling and changing ones focus to gratitude.
Thirteen members answered to roll call by stating a favorite activity they had in high school.
Amy then introduced Carrie Burdick and two English Valleys High School speech contestants, Peityn Claypool and Zola Voss. Burdick played a recording of the Radio News piece from the contest, “Behind the Curtain,” that earned an advancement to the state.
The English Valleys girls were asked a few questions about their involvement in speech, and Burdick shared information related to this year’s Spring Play called, “Back to the 80’s.”
Bonnie Romine said she received a donation request letter from PACE. The Club voted to give $250 to the After Prom.
Linda Lee reported that Scott Christianson was returning his check he received for speaking to the group in December.
Revenue received totaled $50 from the silent auction; expenses were $100 for renting the History Center. This club’s balance as of Feb. 1 is $1,976.64.
Katie Taukei shared that this year is leap year and an Olympics and Para-Olympics year. A solar eclipse will take place April 8, and NASA is trying to return to the moon.
