Fortnightly Women’s Club donates to Dollars For Scholars
Apr. 27, 2023 9:50 am
The North English Fortnightly Women’s Club met Thursday, April 13, at 7 p.m. at the EV History Center.
Sue Mertz arranged for Kristin Pfeiffer to demonstrate how to “pour” paint onto ceramic tiles. The members were supplied with ceramic tiles and several colors of paint to create their own designs. Pfeiffer also brought samples of her work and provided more detailed instructions in case members wanted to create more pieces at home.
Bonnie Romine reported she paid $500 for the Fortnightly Dollars for Scholars scholarship. She spoke to Kristin Fisch and confirmed the FFA would again supply plants for the Main Street beds. Carrie Burdick’s students are willing to come back and present their program next year as the February meeting was canceled.
Bonnie also stated Meredith Carter, who was the March program, said she would open her doors anytime if the members would like a tour of her shop before any upcoming meeting. Bonnie then gave the treasurer’s report. The beginning balance was $2,162 before expenses of $500 for the scholarship and $250 for the After Prom donation.
Tami read the minutes from the December meeting. Susan Elwood made a motion to approve and Joelle J. provided the second.
Mary Glaspie provided meditation. Mona shared the News Flash stating Kai O’Meara is leaving KCRG after 16 years for a job at a private consulting company where he will be specializing in forensic meteorology.
The next meeting will be May 6 at 9 a.m. at the home of Carolyn Elwood. Co-hostesses are Sue Banning, Sarah Ernst and Bonnie Romine.
