BELLE PLAINE — A Festival of Trees in Belle Plaine will showcase the artistic talents of area businesses, organizations and families who decorate trees for this holiday event.
The Wallace and Beverly Winkie Foundation sponsors the festival which is open at Hope Lodge 175, 805 11th Street in Belle Plaine, Nov. 29 from 3-7 p.m. and Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Visitors to the festival can vote on their favorite trees, and the three trees with the most votes will receive gift baskets.
The top prize is valued at over $375. The second is worth more than $275, and the third at over $175.
Visitors can also bid on trees and other items that are up for auction or just admire their creativity.
Door prizes and free coffee and hot apple cider will be given away. Baked goods will be for sale. Admission is free.
“We look forward to this event, because we get to visit with members of the community as well as visitors to Belle Plaine,” said Wendi Winkie.
“We also really like that it coincides with the Holiday Homecoming and Small Business Saturday. And 100% of proceeds from the event go to non-traditional scholarships.”
Information about prizes and who will display trees is available on the foundation’s website and Facebook page.
