MARENGO — The Medicare Open Enrollment Period is underway and runs through Dec. 7. This is the time when Medicare beneficiaries can review and make changes to their Prescription Drug Plan or Medicare Advantage Plan for coverage beginning in 2026.
This year’s enrollment period is particularly important. With the 2025 cap on prescription drug co-payments now in effect and new price negotiations on 10 high-cost medications starting in 2026, many plans are significantly adjusting their benefits and coverage options.
This is a critical time to read all mail from your plan or provider and stay informed of possible changes.
During open enrollment, you can change plans for 2026 or enroll in a plan if you missed the deadline for enrolling earlier.
If you need assistance understanding your options, counselors from the Senior Health Insurance Information Program and Senior Medicare Patrol, based at Compass Memorial Healthcare, are ready to help with your Medicare drug or Advantage Plan comparison.
