MARENGO — Iowa Valley senior student Clara Fry has been involved in several activities and sports in her time as a Tiger.
She’s made her impact in more ways than one.
On Oct. 28, Fry sustained serious injuries in a car accident, including injuries to her head and neck.
Fry is expected to make a full recovery, but the process will be long.
The injuries and recovery process will sideline the senior for the coming girls basketball season, but Fry is still making an impact on the team, inspiring those around her with her strength.
“Her presence on the court will be deeply missed, but we are most thankful that she is still with us and on the road to recovery,” head coach Janet Holst-Behrens said.
“Her strength and spirit continue to inspire her teammates and coaches every day.”
Shortly after the accident, the community rallied around Fry and her family with the ‘Caring For Clara’ campaign.
The campaign’s simple goal is to help raise money for the family to aid with medical expenses.
Donation buckets were seen at several businesses and events following the accident. Money can also be sent via venmo @J-L-Behrens.
As Fry recovers, it’s a joy to those around her to see her making an effort to get to classes and practice.
“She was in practice last night (Wednesday) and has been coming to a couple classes when she’s feeling up for it,” Holst-Behrens said.
An inspired Tigers’ squad will kick off its season Nov. 21 at Lone Tree in the 4 Corners Shootout.
