AMANA — TKM Theatrical Productions is bringing the band FunkDaddies back to Amana Performing Arts Center this month.
Billed as the Midwest’s hippest band, FunkDaddies will perform May 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Amana Performing Arts Center, 39 38th Ave. Price is a freewill donation.
FunkDaddies plays horn-driven soul, R&B and dance music in an exciting, original style, according to a press release from TKM.
FunkDaddies was formed with the purpose of bringing the best, funky dance music to the Midwest, performed by highly accomplished musicians. Inspired by Tower of Power, Earth, Wind & Fire, and all the great Motown artists, FunkDaddies brings its own high-energy sound and first-class stage show to audiences, the press release says.
FunkDaddies has performed for thousands at the Midwest's premiere events, opening for The Beach Boys, 38 Special and Grand Funk Railroad, performing at the Iowa City Jazz Festival, Jass Under the Stars, Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival, RAGBRAI, Coralville 4th Fest and many outdoor events.
The band consists of Anthony Hendricks, lead vocals; John Reasoner, guitars, synth and vocals; Craig Erickson, guitars and lead vocals; Ken Fullard, bass and vocals; Ken Duncan, drums, percussion and lead vocals; Dave Shawver, saxophones and flute; Denny Ketelsen, Hammond B3 organ, keyboards and lead vocals, and Rachel Duncan, sound Jedi (mixing, technical and recording).
In the event of rain, the performance will be moved inside.
Marco’s Grilled Cheese and Opal and Hazel’s Wood Fired Pizza food trucks will be on site from 5-8 p.m.
