Gas prices rise but are lower than last year

DES MOINES – The price of regular unleaded gasoline rose 11 cents last week, averaging $2.94 across Iowa according to AAA.
The price of global crude oil rose on the West Texas Intermediate by $2.62 per barrel to $76.44.
Brent crude oil rose $2.31 to $81.45.
One year ago, WTI crude sold for $79.06 and Brent crude was at $84.96.
As of Wednesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.94 across Iowa according to AAA.
Prices rose 11 cents from last week’s price and are down 31 cents from a year ago. The national average Wednesday was $3.26.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 26 cents last week with a statewide average of $3.80. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $4.14 in Iowa.
The Iowa diesel price is 28 cents lower than the national average of $4.08.
The Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.20 for U87-E10, $2.51 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.77 for ULSD#2, $3.07 for ULSD#1, and $1.86 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Propane prices averaged $1.59 per gallon statewide. Home heating oil prices averaged $3.22 per gallon statewide. Natural gas prices fell 36 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $1.61/MMbtu.
