MARENGO — Looking for a fun way to be active and challenge yourself?
The Gateway Challenge Sprint Triathlon might be your calling.
The third annual race will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, starting at 8 a.m. from Gateway Lake Park in Marengo.
Participants will begin with a 500-meter swim through Gateway Lake.
After the swim, participants will hop on their bikes and go for 15 1/2 mile route that will take them all the way to West and South Amana before heading back to Gateway.
Following the bike ride, a 5k run on the Gateway trail will complete the challenge.
“The challenge is a great event for seasoned triathletes as well as newcomers. Some folks do all the challenges as individuals, or they form a team and parcel the events out among the members,” Race Director Rob Rotter said in a news release.
The Gateway Challenge has grown in popularity in its first two years and looks to continue to grow in numbers.
More information on the event can be found at the Gateway Challenge Facebook page.
