Google brings AI workshop to Grinnell’s small businesses

GRINNELL — Google partnered with local community organizations in Grinnell this month to host a free, in-person workshop about AI.
The workshop explained to area small business owners how they can harness the power of AI to grow and streamline their operations, said Google in a press release.
Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley joined the event answer questions about innovation in Iowa and how to help Iowa businesses thrive in the digital economy.
The event, part of Google’s Make AI Work for You tour, featured hands-on coaching from a Google trainer.
The Connected Commerce Council found 82% of small business leaders report positive outcomes from using AI, including cost savings, increased productivity, and higher sales, according to Google in the press release.
To help Iowa small businesses learn AI skills to grow their businesses, attendees participated in Google’s Make AI Work for You workshop, an interactive session designed to help small business owners understand and apply AI to solve challenges that matter most to their businesses.
Topics include writing effective prompts, brainstorming business solutions, and delegating repetitive tasks using Google’s suite of AI tools Additional workshops that businesses in Iowa can take can be found at g.co/grow/MakeAIWork.
Google has called Iowa home since breaking ground on its Council Bluffs data center in 2007. Since then, Google has announced a second data center campus in Cedar Rapids. Since 2017,
Grow with Google has trained more than 100,000 Iowans on digital skills in partnership with 150 organizations in the state, including organizations such as public libraries, chambers of commerce and community colleges, said Google in the press release.
