UnityPoint Health receives funding for telemedicine program

GRINNELL — UnityPoint Health-Grinnell Regional Medical Center has received a grant for $30,000 to fully fund the construction of a behavioral health telemedicine consultation and treatment room.

The grant award came courtesy of Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation’s System and Capacity Building Grants program

The new behavioral health service will be housed in the Ahrens Medical Arts Building on the GRMC campus.

The GRMC Foundation board of directors has designated two years of the spendable distribution from the Grinnell Regional Mental Health Endowment, totaling $10,569.95 and administered by the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation, to facilitate the implementation of the program.

UnityPoint Health-Grinnell will open a new clinic in late summer that will provide behavioral health care from a telehealth provider.

Mental health services will include consultations, counseling and medication management. More information will be released prior to the launch of the program.
