Healthy HLV-TC picks up 4th win of season

Having a healthy starting five was a welcome situation for the HLV-TC boys basketball team this week.
The Warriors ended a nine-game losing skid in a 50-47 win over Belle Plaine Tuesday in Victor.
It was HLV-TC’s fourth win of the season.
Lance Milton led the way with 21 points, Sean McCulloch added 13 and Tucker Donaldson nine. Donaldson nearly posted a double-double, adding nine rebounds in the win.
The Warriors girls' team also won, 40-31.
HLV-TC’s Emery Hall led all scorers with 15 points. Brilee Fritcher had nine for Belle Plaine.
McKibben’s 22 points leads Tigers
BROOKLYN — Iowa Valley’s Chandler McKibben posted 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting in a 65-42 boys basketball win over BGM Friday.
The Tigers showed balance offensively with Cole Long adding 16 points and Layne Peska 15.
The win put the Tigers one step closer to .500 for the season at 8-9.
Strong drops 32 points
MONTEZUMA — Montezuma’s Dane Strong was an offensive force in an 80-52 boys basketball win over English Valleys Friday.
Strong dropped 32 points, hitting 15 field goals. The Braves moved to 14-3.
Iowa Valley girls pick up win No. 2
MARENGO — The Iowa Valley girls basketball team picked up its second win of the season Thursday, defeating Cedar Valley Christian 55-22.
Myla Frimml and Clara Fry each scored 12 points for the Tigers.
Fry’s 12 was a season high.
After suffering injuries in a car accident before the season, Fry thought she’d be out for the season.
Fry attacked rehab, was cleared and has been able to play for the Tigers the second half of the season.
English Valleys extends win streak
The English Valleys girls basketball team extended its winning streak to nine games following wins over Pekin and Montezuma Thursday and Friday.
The Bears edged Montezuma by one Friday, winning 39-38.
Down by six, English Valleys outscored the Bravettes 13-6 in the final quarter.
