Williamsburg’s Rayce Heitman and Iowa Valley’s Caleb Haack were selected first-team all-state by Iowa high school coaches.
The Iowa Football Coaches Association released its all-state lists Wednesday.
Heitman, selected as a wide receiver, was in the top two in all three major receiving categories in Class 3A. He led in touchdowns (20) and finished second in yards (1,073) and receptions (61).
The Raiders’ senior will continue football at the next level; he verbally committed to the University of Iowa earlier in the fall.
In 8-Player, Haack was selected as a first-team defensive lineman.
Haack was second in the class in tackles for loss with 25.5 and had 3 1/2 sacks.
The Tigers’ senior verbally committed earlier this fall to play football at Northern Illinois University.
Several area players were selected to all-state second teams.
Williamsburg’s Grant Hocker was selected a second-team quarterback. He led Class 3A in passing touchdowns, with 39, and was second in yards (2,326).
Trenton Davies was named second-team offensive lineman for the Raiders.
Iowa Valley’s Nolan Kriegel was second-team quarterback in 8-Player. Kriegel was in the top five in that class in several major offensive statistics.
His 2,224 all purpose yards was the third highest.
BGM quarterback Beau Burns was selected as an offensive utility on the second team.
Montezuma had three players selected on the second team in 8-Player --Houston Van Roekel as an offensive lineman, Briar Simpson as a defensive lineman and Broox Stockman as a linebacker.
Stockman finished eight in total tackles in the class with 85.
Belle Plaine’s Ty Alcott was also selected as a second-team linebacker.
