Historical society to meet Aug. 1

MONTEZUMA — Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, Aug. 1, at 1:30 p.m. in the Carnegie building located 200 S. Third Street, Montezuma.

A handicapped entrance can be found on the south side of the Carnegie building. Refreshments will be served.

Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society is researching family genealogy involving early Poweshiek County residents.

Requests come from across the United States every month. Eight of these requests are noted in the latest newsletter. Our researchers are usually able to locate the requested information and forward it to the interested parties. Many hours are spent doing this research and occasionally interesting facts are revealed. This work is ongoing and we appreciate the volunteers who provide this service.
