Historical Society updates display area

MONTEZUMA — The Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society is inviting the public to see its updated display areas during the American Legion sponsored car show Sept. 27.
The three buildings on the southwest corner of the Poweshiek County square will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Homemade ice cream, provided by Harold Wheeler, will be offered for a donation beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Also offered for sale will be Poweshiek County and Montezuma books as well as commemorative plates.
The next meeting of the society will be Thursday, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. Ellen Zimmerman will present a program about Dresden, a town that preceded Deep River.
Location for the meeting is the Carnegie Research Library at 200 South Third Street in Montezuma. Everyone interested in this subject and Poweshiek County history is welcome to attend.
