VICTOR — Lily Randall has been having quite the season in her first with the Warriors.
Randall is one of several players who came over from Tri-County in the merger.
“It’s been fun being with new people,” Randall said.
Coming into Friday night, Randall led the team in hits (19) and RBIs (20). Randall added another RBI in the bottom of the second with a double in a 9-2 victory over BGM Friday night.
“I’ve put a lot of work in, and my goal at the plate is always to get a hit for the team,” Randall added.
HLV got things started right away in the first.
After a walk, infield single and error the bases were loaded. Hailey Jack delivered with a bases-clearing double. Two more runs were added in the inning by BGM errors.
Besides a single in the first inning, the BGM offense could not get anything going through the first five innings.
The Bears got a few on base via walk, but the Warriors defense made the plays when the ball was put in play.
In the fourth, Raegan Molyneaux added to the HLV lead with an RBI single making it 7-0.
Molyneaux also came in to pitch to start the fifth coming in to relieve for Jack.
“We want Hailey to be her best at the end of the season,” HLV head coach Grace Parrott said.
Jack typically pitches full games, but Coach Parrott has been bringing in Molyneaux more in recent games.
“Raegan has been doing well,” Parrott added on Molyneaux’s role coming in to relieve.
Two more runs were added to the Warrior lead in the fifth off a double by Ayla Hall.
BGM finally got its offense going in the sixth with a double from Jeryn Kalinay who was brought in on a single by Laila Morrison.
The Bears added one more in the seventh on a double from Ryanne VanDee.
“We’ve had a few tough games in the past week, and we made the changes tonight (Friday),” Parrott said.
“They really wanted to win this one.”
HLV advanced to 9-4 following the game and BGM fell to 10-6.
BGM AT HLV BASEBALL
The HLV baseball team fell just short of a win against a good BGM team that came into the game with a 11-6 record.
After getting down 4-0, the Warriors chipped away with multiple RBI hits.
RBI singles came from Peyton Roth, Cole Fontinel and Levi Molyneaux to make the score 4-3 heading into the seventh.
BGM ended the game forcing a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh.
The Warriors next game will be Monday against North Mahaska.
