HLV girls win quarterfinals, fall in semis

HLV girls basketball won its regional quarterfinal 51-47 over North Tama Feb. 13, then lost to No. 13 Coon Rapids-Bayard in a regional semifinal, 40-26, Feb. 16.

Against North Tama, Addy Shaull scored 12 points and Mckenzie Kempf added 11 points for the Warriors.

No stats were reported for the Crusaders game. HLV finished the season 11-10.

CRB (20-3) was set to play No. 2 Newell-Fonda (21-2) in the regional final Wednesday, Feb. 21.

In boys action, Gladbrook-Reinbeck downed HLV, 72-30, in a Class 1A District 6 first round game.

Julian Martinez led the Warriors with eight points. HLV ended the season 5-16.
