HLV softball wins two, drops two

HLV’s softball team posted a 2-2 record last week to remain one game above the .500 mark for the season at 7-6.
SIGOURNEY
The Warriors lost at home Monday, June 12, to the Savage Cobras, 13-1.
Sigourney pitcher Carly Goodwin held HLV to two hits and struck out 11. One of HLV’s hits was a solo home run by Hailey Jack.
NORTH TAMA
The Warriors pounded out 11 hits in a 9-4 win over the Redhawks Tuesday, June 13, at Traer.
Jack, Ema Roberts, Mckenzie Kempf and Kyla Roberts led HLV’s offensive barrage with two hits apiece. Kempf’s hits included a two RBI double, Jack also doubled to drive in a run and scored three times, and Kyla Roberts and Addy Shaull had RBI singles.
Jack, with last inning relief help from Nicole Gensley, was the winning pitcher. Between them, they gave up eight hits and struck out five.
BELLE PLAINE
The Warriors made it back-to-back road victories Wednesday, June 14, with an 8-4 conquest of the Lady Plainsmen.
Jack went the distance in the circle, scattering eight hits and striking out three. She helped herself at the plate, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs.
Kempf singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Kyla Roberts also doubled, driving in two runs, and Serenity McClenethan had a pinch-hit, RBI single.
BGM
The Warriors closed the week the same way they opened it — with a 9-2 loss, Friday, June 16, at Brooklyn.
Statistics were not available by press deadline.
HLV beat BGM earlier this season, 3-2.
