HLV teams compete at Ekstrand Relays

The HLV girls’ and boys’ track teams competed at the Ekstrand Relays at WACO on April 27. Scoring for the girls came from Ema Roberts 1st high jump and 2nd 200; Nicole Gensley 5th high jump; Caiya Schmidt 4th in 400, 5th in 4 x 200 with Savannah Harmon, Payten Martinson, Nicole Gensley; Caiya Schmidt, 5th shuttle hurdle with Gensley, Schmidt, Mackenzie Allee and Raegen Stowell, and Raelene Hawkins 4th discus.

The boys scored 68 points and finished in 5th place in the team race. Brody Sternhagen finished 2nd in the 100 and 200 and 1st in the 400; Nolan Pirkl placed 6th in 1600; 3200 Austin Van Hamme 5th and Nolan Pirkl 6th; Hunter Bazyn 2nd 400 hurdles, 5th 4 x 100 Carter Scholtus, Mason Westerdale, Kyler Gorsh, Boston York, 5th 4 x 200 Tyler Ballard, Scholtus, Jack Cheney, Bazyn, 4th 4 x 400 Ballard, Cheney, Landyn Ankrum, Bazyn, 5th Keegan Gorsh long jump, Boston York 1st shot put and 4th in the discus, and the sprint medley placed 3rd with Ballard, Ankrum, Bazyn and Sternhagen.
