BROOKLYN — The BGM girls track and field team hopes to see improvements this season and to finish higher at the conference meet.
“It was a tough season finding success as a team, but everyone got better as the year went on,” BGM coach Kyle Gritsch said. “We want to improve upon times from last year and have a higher finish at conference.”
The Bears finished ninth at the South Iowa Cedar League meet, scoring 15 1/2 total team points.
The top returner for the Bears this season is Ryanne VanDee, who placed second at conference last season in tho 100-meter hurdles. VanDee placed sixth in the event at the state qualifying meet.
Hurdles will be where the strength of the team is this season.
At the state qualifying meet last season, the Bears’ shuttle hurdle relay team placed fourth.
“Shuttle hurdle has a lot of potential this season, as well as a couple 100 hurdlers,” said Gritsch. “Emy Minnaert will be a newcomer to watch.”
